Yoichi Kato serves as Corporate Executive Vice President and Director of the Board for Subaru Corporation located in Ebisu, Japan. Additionally, Kato also serves as General Manager of the Subaru Legal Department. Kato was responsible for overseeing the creation of the new External Relations Department within Subaru in 2015, which oversees policy strategy across all of Subaru’s global markets. He joined Fuji Heavy Industries, Inc. (now Subaru Corporation) in 2014 after years of experience working for Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry (METI). Just prior to joining Subaru, he was the Director-General of Regional Economic and Industry Policy for METI. Previous positions within METI have included Deputy Director-General for Policy Evaluation and METI’s Councilor to the Japanese Cabinet Secretariat. Kato has a Bachelor of Economics from the University of Tokyo.
