Manoj Sharma, Ph.D.

Manoj Sharma is a postdoctoral scholar at the Institute of Transportation Studies at the University of California, Davis, where he works on the Biofuel Land Use Change (BLU-C) research program. His work focuses on indirect land use change (ILUC) modeling and risk mitigation for low-carbon fuels, and includes engaging with stakeholders and policymakers on modeling and policy development. His broader research lies at the intersection of agricultural production, trade, and environmental economics, including the impacts of the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) on global soy trade and tropical deforestation, the relationship between market demand and land use change, and how the land price mechanism transmits global land pressure, through international trade, to local land use decisions. Before coming to UC Davis, Manoj received his PhD in Agricultural Economics from Kansas State University in 2026, advised by Prof. Nelson B. Villoria, where he was also a Natural Resources and Environmental Sciences (NRES) Graduate Fellow.
