Route 66 is charging into the future with a very 21st century update

The iconic Route 66 that starts near Chicago and cuts through Illinois is getting an electrifying upgrade. Gov. Pat Quinn said today that the state of Illinois is investing $1 million to establish a network of charging stations for electric vehicles along the famous Route. The University of California Davis, a leading center for the study of sustainable transportation, provided technical assistance in planning the Route 66 electric vehicle charging station network.
