States to get nearly $500 million in unused earmarks for transportation projects

Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood announced Friday that $470 million in unspent earmark money would be made available to states for transportation projects. “The transportation community is desperately underfunded,” said Daniel Sperling, director of the Institute of Transportation Studies at the University of California, Davis. “Any money will help.”
