Abstract

For the last few years, researchers from the University of Washington’s Sustainable Transportation Lab have worked with the Washington State DOT to develop tools to support EV infrastructure planning in service of multiple goals including network coverage, serving current EV owners, and accelerating EV adoption. In this talk, Don MacKenzie will share some of his lab’s research on EV charging behavior and infrastructure planning, as well as some hard-earned lessons about translating research into practice.

Biographical Sketch

Don MacKenzie is an Associate Professor of Civil & Environmental Engineering and leads the University of Washington’s Sustainable Transportation Lab, which develops and evaluates technical and policy solutions for making our transportation system more economically viable and environmentally benign, while providing access to opportunities for all. Professor MacKenzie holds a PhD in Engineering Systems and SM in Technology and Policy, both from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and a BASc in Chemical & Biological Engineering from the University of British Columbia. He is a member of the Transportation Research Board’s Standing Committee on Transportation Energy, and serves on the editorial board of Transportation Research Part D: Transport and Environment.
