Abstract

This talk discusses the opportunities and challenges of integrating electrified transportation into electric power grids. We first review the overarching trends and challenges posed by transportation electrification and decarbonization, including grid capacity and charging infrastructure. Next, we discuss recent research results for analyzing these coupled networks, and operating charging infrastructure to enable integration. Highlighted projects include SlrpEV – Smart Learning Research Pilot for Electric Vehicle charging stations, Robochargers, and Battery Swapping Stations for Heavy Duty Trucks.
