August 22-25, 2017

Organized under the auspices of the
Energy and Alternative Fuels Committees
of the U.S. Transportation Research Board

Hosted by the UC Davis Institute of Transportation Studies

This year’s Asilomar conference will respond to an acknowledgment highlighted at the Paris climate conference (COP21) in December 2015 that transportation, beyond vehicles and fuels, has not received enough attention. Sessions will address emerging issues, including “global peak oil demand,” vehicle electrification, sustainable freight, and the energy impact of shared mobility and automated vehicles. The conference will also address the growing skepticism of globalization and shifting climate policies—the emerging trends, tensions and uncertainties. What are the opportunities, challenges and limitations? What new international and public-private strategies and partnerships might be pursued?

What to wear/bring to Asilomar

Weather at the conference site is often quite cool (50s and 60s) and damp. The dress code for all conference events is casual. We highly suggest you pack a light jacket and comfortable walking shoes.

This year we are offering an optional yoga class 6 a.m. – 7 a.m. on the conference grounds. If you would like to join this relaxing class, please bring comfortable workout clothes. Additionally, Asilomar offers wonderful scenic walking trails from the grounds to the private beach and to downtown Monterey.

Note: There will be a group picture taken on Wednesday, August 23rd.
