2013 Outstanding Master’s Thesis Winner – Sahoko Yui

In her important and creative thesis, Sahoko used the UPLAN land use change model to analyze how different policies might affect the use of land for palm oil production in Brazil. This work is highly relevant for policy makers and is especially important given that Brazil is one of the world’s largest producers of ethanol and biodiesel. Her analysis also explores the implications for carbon emissions.
