ITS-Davis Wellness Pedometer Challenge

ITS-Davis Wellness Pedometer Challenge

This year, we want to encourage all participants to not only enjoy the plenary sessions and wonderful food, but to enjoy the fresh air and beautiful walking trails both surrounding and on the conference grounds. As an incentive, we’re introducing the Wellness Pedometer Challenge!

At check-in, you will have the opportunity to pick up a pedometer and printed Daily Walking Log Sheet where you will track and log your steps each day. At the end of the conference, we will tally up participants’ total steps throughout the conference dates and award two winners with gift baskets and gift cards.

Looking for recommended areas to explore? Download our conference app and find suggested trails and parks around Asilomar Conference Grounds.

Guidelines for participating in the Wellness Pedometer Challenge are easy, but every participant has a few more responsibilities than just walking!

Please see below for guidelines:

  • Register for the challenge and be responsible for your pedometer
  • Wear the pedometer each day of the conference. Clip it onto the waist-band of your pants/skirt/shorts.  Be aware that on  some pedometers the clips are delicate and should never be forced over a belt as this could result in breakage
  • Make sure that the pedometer is in a vertical position, sitting just above your hip bone and secured with the strap to the belt loop, belt or waistband to prevent it from falling off
  • Reset the pedometer each morning to track steps for the day
  • Log your steps at the end of each day on the Daily Walking Log Sheet.
  • Set goals to increase your step count
  • Total your steps for the week and submit your Daily Walking Log Sheet to the pedometer challenge at the registration table, in the back of Merrill Hall on Friday, morning by 10 am
  • Complete the evaluation and hand in at the registration table
  • You can keep your pedometer

Good luck everyone, and happy walking! 🙂
